As a current graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in public relations at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Asia J. Hentkowski is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities and improving government communications. She brings extensive experience as a public servant and communications strategist.
Asia previously served as the director of operations for the Congressional Black Caucus, managing caucus-wide events and coordinating communications for over 500 congressional staffers across 62 offices. Before that, she worked in the office of Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C., where she advanced to digital media director. In that role, she revitalized digital platforms, boosted constituent engagement, managed the district’s grant funding program and developed training courses for interns and staff assistants.
Asia earned her bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in mass communications from Loyola University New Orleans and studied international studies at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. She is certified in the Penn Wharton Budget Model program and is an alumna of the House Democratic Digital Academy’s Emerging Class.
A New Orleans native and Hurricane Katrina survivor, Asia is passionate about storytelling and shaping public narratives through effective communication.
